THE PATTERN INTERRUPT:

When you feel “the spark” with someone new:

STOP.

Ask yourself:

  1. “Does this person remind me of anyone from my past?”

  2. “Does this feeling in my body feel familiar?”

  3. “If I showed my therapist/best friend, what would they say?”

  4. “Is this chemistry or trauma bonding?”

If it’s familiar = IT’S THE PATTERN.

Walk away. Even if it feels hard. ESPECIALLY if it feels hard.

Then:

Choose the opposite.

If you usually choose:

  • Emotionally unavailable β†’ Choose someone emotionally available (even if it feels “boring”)

  • Chaotic/dramatic β†’ Choose stable/calm (even if it feels “flat”)

  • Pursuer β†’ Choose someone who pursues you back

  • Dismissive β†’ Choose someone attentive

This will feel WRONG at first. That’s how you know you’re breaking the pattern.
